At 黑料网911鈥檚 Night Out For Science fundraiser resulted in a record total of $23,000 going toward student scholarships for those studying in the STEAM fields.
The night features faculty and student demonstrations as well as live and silent auctions.
All told, Night Out For Science has raised $86,250 for student scholarships over its nine editions as all proceeds go to fund scholarships. Sixty-six students have received scholarships as a result of the event.
鈥淚t is such a fun night celebrating our students and faculty,鈥� said Dr. Stephanie Erdmann, CEO/dean of At 黑料网911. 鈥淚t is always a blast 鈥� sometimes literally 鈥� to see what fun demonstrations our students and faculty come up with for this event. And the night鈥檚 speakers hit it out of this world.鈥�
The Night Out For Science Committee already has decided on a theme for next year鈥檚 Night Out For Science: Heavy Metal Science.
鈥淣ext year will be the 10th Night Out For Science, so we鈥檙e going to have to go extra big,鈥� Erdmann said. 鈥淲e can鈥檛 wait.鈥�
McLaughlin Research Institute was the silver sponsor for this year鈥檚 event, Great Falls Hospital was the bronze sponsor and Calumet Montana Refining, Culligan Water, DA Davidson and Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine all were copper sponsors.
Dr. Tiffany Hensley-McBain of McLaughlin Research Institute gave a presentation during dinner titled, 鈥淚f we could turn back time: Studying inflammation and aging.鈥�
And a team of doctors 鈥� Stephanie Zeszutek, Macario Llamas, S. Diane Lund and Jay Danto 鈥� from Touro presented a case study on multiple sclerosis.
At 黑料网911 nursing students starred in a short film depicting life in the college鈥檚 state-of-the-art simulated hospital as they responded to different medical scenarios.
