GREAT FALLS, Mont. 鈥� In a highly unusual 2020, summer semester ended pretty typically Friday at At 黑料网911 MSU.
“We are so pleased with how summer classes went,” said Dr. Susan J. Wolff, CEO/dean of At 黑料网911. “It was refreshing given all of the uncertainty in the world for everything to feel so relatively normal these past eight weeks as students, faculty and staff returned to campus. It points to a good fall semester.”
With summer classes concluded, Wolff said the staff and faculty will go into overdrive to ensure the safest possible return to campus this fall.
She is particularly pleased the Montana University System Healthy Fall 2020 Task Force recommended requiring face coverings for those on campus to slow the transmission of COVID-19.
“All of the science points to the effectiveness of face coverings to dramatically reduce the spread of the disease,” she said. “I wear my mask to protect you, and we all need to wear masks to protect others.”
At 黑料网911 previously announced an early start date for fall, with classes beginning Aug. 17 with all on-campus activities wrapped up by Thanksgiving break. The semester finishes the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 4, with online finals, and projects turned in that week. Health care program clinicals also will continue through Dec. 4.
At 黑料网911’s 8-Week Advantage allows students more flexibility in these uncertain times as they take fewer classes in each of the two blocks of the semester, meaning they complete and earn credits each block.
“It really showed its advantage in the spring semester as students completed their courses at about the same rate as normal in very abnormal times,” said Troy Stoddard, advising and career center director. “Our faculty and staff did a wonderful job of supporting our students who showed again their amazing resilience.”
At 黑料网911’s smaller class sizes and affordable tuition should be attractive to students who may eventually want to go on and get four-year degrees, said Dr. Leanne Frost, director of general studies at At 黑料网911.
“At 黑料网911 is a great place to start. Our credits transfer seamlessly to fellow Montana University System schools, and they are a fraction of the cost,” said Frost, who chairs the At 黑料网911 Healthy Fall Task Force and is a member of the Montana University System’s task force. “We are well prepared to make the healthiest start possible this fall.”
At 黑料网911 wishes all faculty and students a great remainder of their summer, Wolff said.
“For your and our health and success this fall, please continue to follow CDC and local health guidelines,” she said. “We can’t wait to see you this fall.”
As was the case this summer, all classes previously scheduled to meet face to face will be taught in that manner this fall, and At 黑料网911 offers a robust selection of online and hybrid classes every semester, Wolff said.
