Purpose

The purpose of the Tenure & Promotion Committee is to promote excellence in teaching and learning and to ensure a fair and comprehensive review of candidates applying for tenure and/or promotion.

Areas of responsibility

As outlined in the Faculty Tenure and Promotion Policy 203.1, it is the responsibility of the Tenure and Promotion Committee to:Ìý

  • Review Professional Development plans from faculty seeking promotionÌýÌý
  • Review Tenure and Promotion portfolios from faculty and make recommendations to the CEO/Dean concerning tenure and promotion applicationsÌýÌý
  • Evaluate and update the Committee policy and procedures annuallyÌýÌý
  • Maintain confidentialityÌýÌý
  • Represent divisions equallyÌý

Membership

Members of the Tenure & Promotion Committee will include:

  • Three (3) faculty members from the Health Science Division; Ìý
  • Three (3) faculty members from the General Studies Division; Ìý
  • Director of Human Resources (non-voting member)Ìý

Term Limits

Faculty members must be tenured and shall be elected by the appropriate division for a four-year term.
