Purpose

The Staff Senate represents classified staff at At ºÚÁÏÍø911, facilitating communication between staff and administration, advocating for professional development and stability and supporting initiatives that enhance campus relations, student success and institutional effectiveness.

  • Give staff a voice in college policies and procedures.
  • Act as a bridge between staff, administration, and the State Board of Regents.
  • Promote the growth and stability of staff and the improvement of higher education at the college and in Montana.
  • Encourage positive relationships with students, faculty, and management.
  • Support staff-led activities that help student success and college effectiveness.
  • Contribute to discussions on academic and professional matters that are not related to union business and that support the college’s mission.

 

Areas of responsibility

  • To promote an active role for the staff employees and participate in the governing structures and decision-making process of the At ºÚÁÏÍø911; Ìý
  • To achieve formal representation in the process of establishing college educational and operating procedures and policies; Ìý
  • To serve as a communication conduit between staff and the administration and, through MUSSA, to the Montana Board of Regents; Ìý
  • To promote continued improvement of higher education at At ºÚÁÏÍø911 and in the state of Montana;ÌýÌý
  • To promote stability and professional growth of the At ºÚÁÏÍø911 staff;ÌýÌý
  • To enhance relations with students, faculty and management;ÌýÌý
  • To promote and develop staff-related activities or college-wide campaigns that contribute to student success and institutional effectiveness; andÌýÌý
  • To contribute to discussions on academic and professional matters that are not union related and that support the At ºÚÁÏÍø911 mission.ÌýÌý

Membership

All classified staff at At ºÚÁÏÍø911 MSU – including both union and union-exempt employees – are represented by the Staff Senate. The Senate aims for balanced representation of all campus staff.

Term Limits

Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary) will serve a two-year term, beginning July 1. Election of officers will take place at the 1st meeting in May.
